Joint Meeting of KLC and Global Members on leave: This was held at 5 pm on Friday, the 18th of January 2013 at the St. Thomas L.P. School. Arrangements for the next two days program were evaluated and corrective measures were taken. Assignment of various tasks of both days was also completed. Both KLC and Global Members were enthusiastic in seeing the pre-arrangements satisfactory.

WINGS 1 – Saturday 19th January 2013: 34 of the 35 registered students reported on time. After marking the attendance both the students and parents proceeded to the dining hall for breakfast. Sharp at 8.45 am KOSS Global President Shri. Babu Panamthundil hoisted the WINGS flag in presence of the Vicar of St. Thomas Church, Sisters of the Bethany Madom, Sister Angel the headmistress of the School, KLC members, Ex KOSS President Shri C.K.C Kurup and other KOSS officials.

Dr. John Panackel led the first session on ‘Teens’ Tip’. There was a break of 15 minutes at 10.45 am. By the time Shri. B.S. Warrier arrived from Kochi along with his wife. He led the second session on ‘Career Selection Techniques.’ There was a lunch break from 1 pm to 1.30 pm and all present were served with delicious lunch. The after session on ‘Ideal family’ was by Col. R.G. Nair from Trivandrum. At 3.45, students were divided in to 4 batches and 4 counsellors from Kottayam addressed each batch and presented their counselling schedule on the following Saturdays.

All the three sessions were interesting and we ensured maximum participation from students and parents. At 4.30 tea and snacks were served and WINGS 1 got concluded successfully. There were individual counsellings for each student along with parents on 26th January, 2nd February and 9th February. 32 of the 34 students attended the counselling and found it very useful. Counsellors reported that 7 of the students need follow-up counselling. We have arranged the follow up counselling for these 7 students along with the 2 absentees of the previous counselling (total 9) on the coming Saturday, the 23rd of February 2013.

General Body at 12.00 noon on Sunday, the 20th of January 2013: Around 140 people were present in the general body which was presided over by the President of KOSS Global. Invited guests, Sponsors and KLC members gave colour to this function. Upon request from the President, KOSS Governor presented the ‘Kaineetam’ project to the participants. As per this project a Kaineetam of Rs 1000 will be given on the 1st day of every month to the deserving sick people to manage their monthly medicine. 14 of the participants willingly offered themselves to be part of this prestigious project which was applauded by all present in the meeting. We need more voluntary offers from you all to make it a grand success. The General Body was over by 1.45 pm with a lunch.

Global Meet: The procession was supposed to begin at 2 pm sharp to save the time for the Minister. However, since the chendamelam and band set did not show on time, the procession got delayed and by the time they arrived, the public meeting started. We must confess that we could not hold a colourful procession as we planned for reasons beyond our control.

Hon. Minister Shri. K.C. Joseph was the chief guest and Hon. Chief Whip Shri. P. C. George was the guest of honour. KOSS Global President Shri. Babu Panamthundil presided over the function. KOSS Global General Secretary Shri. George Kottor (Monachan) welcomed the gathering. MLA R. Rajesh, Ex MLA K.K. Shaju, Palamel Panchayat President K. Biju, Panchayat members Shri. Justin Jacob and Shri R. Reghunathan, Rev. Fr. Daniel Pulleil (KOSS Representative from USA and Canada and Shri George Valakkamattom (Bahrain) spoke on the occasion. The Pandalam panchayat President Shir Pandalam Prathapan and Panchayath member Smt. Valsalakumari were also present but they left early as they had another urgent meeting. The traditional Vidhya Thilokam, Sahithya Ratna and Karma Jyothi awards were then given to Dr. Rajan George Ramanattu (his brother Shri. Johny George receieved it for him), Shri. Moncy Elakkot and Shri. K. Appukkuttan Pillai by Shri. P. C. George. The award recipients were introduced by Shri. P. Aravindakshan Pillai, the KLC Chairman.

Five mementos of appreciation were also given to Messrs. C.K.C. Kurup Cherukulathoor, T.G. Gopinathan Pillai Thayyil, P.S. Lalitha Bhai Kailas, K.M. Joy Kottor and Benny Sam Kanjickal. They were introduced by Shri. P. Philip (Qatar) , the Jt. Secretary of KOSS Global.

Dr. John Panackel then briefed the audience about the causes of KOSS and appreciated the best wishes sent by Shri. Kochukunju Joy, Ottalil from Germany and Shri. Johnson Keeppallil from Saudi Arabia. The message of Shri. Joy is displayed on the notice board of KOSS office at Kudassanad.

Shri. V. Somanath Ennackattu then invited all the distinguished teachers one by one to the stage to receive their certificate of appreciation and golden Shawls. 27 of the 37 teachers came. 10 could not make it up due to physical weakness. These ten teachers will be soon visited at their residences by the KLC Members to deliver the certificates and shawls.

Shri. Joseph Mathew Ottalil (Kuwait) then introduced Shri. Varughese Puthukulangara, The Pravasi Board Member to the audience who was presented with a golden shawl. He then spoke on the occasion.

Dr. K. C. Raju, the Deputy Director of WINGS spoke few words about the WINGS Program and invited all the participants to accept the certificate of participation. The KOSS Global Treasurer Shri. Anup Kurup Cherukulathur handed over a cheque of Rs 25000 to the KLC Treasurer Shri. Benny Sam to distribute to the needy in our area.  Shri. Babu Daniel Kariot, Jt. Secretary of KLC then invited the interschool prize winners to come to the dais and receive their cash awards.

Mr. Babu Mulamoottil (Muscat) spoke about the sauhrudam magazine of KOSS and initiated the release of the magazine. Copies of the magazine were distributed to all participants in the meet and all Global Representatives from various chapters who were present there were requested to carry sufficient copies to their home chapters and distribute to the members.

Shri. Biju Vadakkeveetil (Qatar) introduced the sponsors of the meet, Mssrs. Indian Overseas Bank Kudassanad, Federal Bank Pandalam, Catholic Syrian Bank Kudassanad and Keeppallil Brothers and steered the memento presentation to them.

Shri. Biju Kavumpuram (Damam) spoke on the activities KOSS Saudi Chapter and handed over a cheque for the Gate construction of Kudassanad Govt. L. P. School to the Headmistress. Shri. Saji Kochuthekkethil (Damam) also spoke about other proposed charity activities of KOSS Saudi Chapter. Shri Samji Samuel (Bahrain) was also helpful in relaying the meet live to a web-broadcast system and the facebook which could be viewed by many.

KOSS Global Board member and ex – Jt. Secretary mr. n. Nikhilraj  proposed vote of thanks. This was followed by the crowd pulling Ganamela led by Idea Star Singer program fame Ms. Anju Joseph and team.
