KUDASSANAD OVERSEAS SAUHRUDA SANGHAM

Minutes of the General Body held on 21st December 07

Time: 6.45 pm Venue: Gulf Gate Hotel, Manama, Bahrain
Participants: Around 300 people from various countries.

The meeting started at 6.45 pm and was presided over by the Patron Dr. John Panackel. In his presidential address, a report of activities was presented with the assistance of the General Convenor, Mr. Johnson Keeppallil.
The election for the next term of 2 years was then conducted. Realizing the need of a much wider coverage of administration, the following posts were created and persons were unanimously elected:

Patron – N. Sathyadevan, Ajman
Portfolio – as stated in the bylaw of KOSS
Co-Patron – John Samuel, Abu Dhabi
Portfolio – to jointly carry out the duties of Patron and assist him when required
General Convenor – Babu Panamthundil, Dammam
Portfolio – as stated in the byelaw of KOSS
Jt. Convenor – Jose Kollamparampil, Qatar -Portfolio – to jointly carry out the duties of General Convenor and assist him when required. To manage all communications for and on behalf of KOSS.

Dr. John Panackel and Johnson Keeppallil will be members of the Board of Advisors to the above Governing Body for the coming 2 years.The existing local committee recently reconstituted by the Patron in consultation with the General Convenor will be further expanded with an extra nomination by the New Patron.

Local Committee at Kudassanad consists of :

1. Prof. John Mathew Palamukalil (Chairman)
2. Samuel Kallinal (Secretary)
3. R. Visakhan Pillai, Pappadiyil (Member)
4. K.M. Samuel, Kavumpurathu (Member)
5. New Member to be nominated by the new Patron in consultation with other Global Governing Body members i.e. Co-Patron, General Convenor and Jt. Convenor.

The term for all above is limited to 2 years. They will assume responsibilities from 1^st of January 08 till 31^st December 09. However the scholarship distribution ceremony scheduled for the 18^th of January 08 at Kudassanad is the responsibility of the existing governing body.
It was then decided to register KOSS as per society acts of Kerala as 'KOSS – Charity Trust'. It was also decided to open up an office of this registered organization at Kudassanad to offer our services to its members and the general public. This would initially begin with an Internet Café where in computer classes would be offered along with other services. Such an office would also act as the liaison office of KOSS for all it chapters across the globe. The petty need of its members at KOSS Area would be addressed by this office. The trust will look into the possibilities of expansion so that the NRK returnees would be getting a chance to involve in business activities.

It was then decided to offer the following memberships to the proposed KOSS Trust

1. Director – Indian Rupees 10,000 (Ten Thousand only). Husband, Wife, Children of 18 years and above or Parents can be directors and there is no limit for the total number of directors until further notice. Office bearers of this organization are elected from the Board of Directors only. They will also have administrative say in the Board Meeting and voting power.
2. Life members – Indian Rupees 3,000 (Three Thousand only). They will have the voting power to elect the office bearers, eligibility to participate in the general body and their membership is life long. They can transfer the life membership to their spouse or children at any stage. Life members are entitled for all benefits of the trust depicted time to time.
3. Ordinary Members – Indian Rupees 500 (Five Hundred only). This membership is valid for 2 years only. It is renewable for any number of further terms of 2 years and upgradable to life membership or Board of Directors as per the Trust policy stipulated from time to time. They too have the voting power and the eligibility to participate in the General Body. They are also entitled for all benefits of the trust for the period for which their membership is valid.

4.    The Meeting entrusted the responsibility of registration of such a trust with the current governing body.
Terms, conditions and privileges of members would then be made clear.
However, all chapters are requested to forward the names of those interested in becoming Directors, Life members and Ordinary members to the General Convenor on the following address:

The new Patron Mr. N.Sathyadevan donated Rs. 100,000 (One Lakh) for KOSS activities for the year 2008, Mr. Jose Keeppallil Rs. 100,000 (One Lakh) for KOSS charity activities in memorial to his mother, Mr. Monachan Kottoor, in the name of Kottoor family, Rs. 25,000 (Twenty Five Thousand only) for charity activities in memorial to their mother.

The meeting ended at 7.45 pm.
