ഉദ്വേഗം നിറഞ്ഞ കലാശപ്പോരില്‍ സിംഹളപ്പടയെ തോല്‍പിച്ച് ഇന്ത്യ ക്രിക്കറ്റ് ലോകകപ്പിന്റെ കനക കിരീടം തൊട്ടു. പത്ത് പന്ത് ബാക്കി നില്‍ക്കെ ആറു വിക്കറ്റിന്റെ വിജയമാണ് ഇന്ത്യ പൊരുതി നേടിയത്. 97 റണ്‍സെടുത്ത ഗൌതം ഗംഭീറിന്റെയും പുറത്താവാതെ 91 റണ്‍സെടുത്ത ക്യാപ്റ്റന്‍ ധോണിയുടെയും തകര്‍പ്പന്‍ പ്രകടനമാണ് സിംഹളവീര്യം തകര്‍ക്കാന്‍ ഇന്ത്യയെ സഹായിച്ചത്.
മുംബൈയിലെ വാംഖഡെ സ്റ്റേഡിയത്തില്‍ നടക്കുന്ന ഫൈനല്‍ മല്‍സരത്തില്‍ ടോസ് നേടി ബാറ്റിങ് തെരെഞ്ഞെടുത്ത ശ്രീലങ്ക നിശ്ചിത 50 ഓവറില്‍ ആറ് വിക്കറ്റിന് 274 റണ്‍സെടുത്തു. സെഞ്ച്വറി നേടിയ മഹേല ജയവര്‍ധനയുടെ ഉജ്ജ്വല ബാറ്റിങ്ങിന്റെ മികവിലാണ് ലങ്ക മെച്ചപ്പെട്ട സ്കോര്‍ പടുത്തുയര്‍ത്തിയത്.
മല്‍സരത്തിന്റെ തുടക്കത്തില്‍ മെല്ലെത്തുടങ്ങിയ ശ്രീലങ്ക ജയവര്‍ധന(103 നോട്ടൌട്ട്) എത്തിയതോടെ സ്കോറിങ്ങിന്റെ വേഗം കൂട്ടുകയായിരുന്നു. സ്കോര്‍ 17 ലെത്തി നില്‍ക്കെ ആദ്യ വിക്കറ്റ് നഷ്ടമായ ലങ്കക്ക് 60 റണ്‍സെടുക്കുന്നതിനിടെ രണ്ടാമത്തെ വിക്കറ്റും നഷ്ടമായി. തുടര്‍ന്ന് മുന്നോട്ട് നീങ്ങിയ സ്കോര്‍ 122 ലെത്തിയപ്പോള്‍ യുവരാജ് സംഗക്കാരയെയും പുറത്താക്കി.
യുവരാജും സഹീര്‍ ഖാനും രണ്ട് വിക്കറ്റ് വീഴ്ത്തി.ഹര്‍ഭജന് ഒരു വിക്കറ്റ് ലഭിച്ചപ്പോള്‍ കുലശേഖരയെ ധോണി റണ്ണൌട്ടാക്കുകയായിരുന്നു.

The popular radio program of the Middle East, 'Manasu" is now available in the form of a CD.
It is officially getting released at 4.30 pm on Wednesday, the 27th of October 2010 at the Indian Embassy, Kingdom of Bahrain. It will be released by H.E. Dr. George Joseph, the Ambassador of India to the Kingdom of Bahrain by giving a copy of the CD to Mr. John Iype, the Chariman of Indian Community Relief Fund (ICRF).
Mr.Soman Baby, the President of YMCA Bahrain and Managing Editor of Daily Tribune and Mr. P. Unnikrishnan, Chairman of Radio Voice will speak on the occasion. The function will be attended by dignitaries and VIPS from various fields.
In a message to KOSS forum Dr. John Panackel, the author solicited everyone’s Prayers and presence for the success of this event.
The copies of the CDs will be available at the Thomson outlets worldwide and in all the leading Video shops of Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Qatar for sale. It will also be made available at Kudassanad.

The government of Kerala has instructed NORKA-ROOTS to issue photo identity cards for the non-resident Keralites working for a minimum of 6 months in a foreign country. The ID Card will be issued to all the NRK’s working abroad across the globe. The ID Card will be used as a base material for long-term policy formulation of Government. This is for the first time that a state government is implementing such a major scheme for its people. This project was inaugurated by the Chief Minister Shri.V.S.Achuthanandan on July 27, 2008 at Malappuram.
The NRK who are either residing or working abroad atleast 6 months and have completed 18 years of age are eligible for applying the card. The validity of the card is of 3 years. NRK’s can apply for the ID Cards by submitting their application form duly verified and attested by the peoples representative, concerned embassies or the gazzetted officers of Government of Kerala. Copies of the relevant pages of passport and visa are to be enclosed along with the application. The registration fee is only Rs. 200/- per person.
The New India Insurance Company will provide insurance coverage to the card holders. The coverage is given for accidental death, permanent or total and partial disability of the card holder. A unique master policy number is depicted in each card.
NRK Identity Card Cells have been constituted in Thiruvananthapuran, Kochi and Kozhikode districts for receiving the applications of the NRKs. The districts are classified into three zones and the districts pertaining to each zone as detailed below can submit their applications in the three regional centers of NORKA-ROOTS.

Overview
In India, an inability to prove identity is one of the biggest barriers preventing the poor from accessing benefits and subsidies. Public as well as private sector agencies across the country typically require proof of identity before providing individuals with services. But till date, there remains no nationally accepted, verified identity number that both residents and agencies can use with ease and confidence.
As a result, every time an individual tries to access a benefit or service, they must undergo a full cycle of identity verification. Different service providers also often have different requirements in the documents they demand, the forms that require filling out, and the information they collect on the individual. Such duplication of effort and ‘identity silos’ increase overall costs of identification, and cause extreme inconvenience to the individual. This approach is especially unfair to India’s poor and underprivileged residents, who usually lack documentation, and find it difficult to meet the costs of multiple verification processes.
There are clearly, immense benefits from a mechanism that uniquely identifies a person, and ensures instant identity verification. The need to prove identity only once will bring down transaction costs for the poor. A clear identity number would also transform the delivery of social welfare programs by making them more inclusive of communities now cut off from such benefits due to their lack of identification. It would enable the government to shift from indirect to direct benefits, and help verify whether the intended beneficiaries actually receive funds/subsidies.
A single, universal identity number will also be transformational in eliminating fraud and duplicate identities, since individuals will no longer be able to represent themselves differently to different agencies. This will result in significant savings to the state exchequer. As an example, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas can save over Rs.1200 crores a year in subsidies now reportedly lost on LPG cylinders registered under duplicate or ghost identities.
